In China, there are many traditional festivals, but have you ever heard of the beautiful and romantic Flower Festival?

The Flower Festival falls in every February in the Chinese lunar year, also known as the "Flower Fairy Festival". It started in the Tang Dynasty, which is one of the most important traditional festivals in China.With the strong sense of spring, the Flower Festival activities including Hanfu Show were held all over Changsha.

Young people, wearing Hanfu, which is the kind of Chinese traditional clothes, are playing the Chinese Zither or dancing of swords. Children also come to the park to feel the spring in all kinds of traditional costumes. Various vendors selling traditional accessories, including sachets filled with herbs, ancient fans printed with plum blossoms, exquisite flower hairpins, masks and other commodities, abound in the market.

The Flower Festival is rich in customs, such as having spring outing, chasing butterflies, making flower cakes and so on. Girls tie the multicolor paper-cuts on the flower stems, which is known as "Flower Appreciation". They pray for the benediction of the flower fairies, hoping that they could be as young and beautiful as flowers.

The holding of the Flower Festival evokes people's memory of traditional costumes such as Hanfu and ancient ornaments, which is also a new form to pass down Chinese traditional culture.

花朝节大约在每年农历二月，又被称之为“花神节”，起源于唐朝，是中国十分重要的传统节日之一。伴随着浓厚的春意，长沙各地都举办了汉服花朝节活动。

身着汉服的年轻人正在弹琴、舞剑，小孩子们也穿起了各式各样的古装，一起来到公园定格春意。古着小摊摆满集市，琳琅满目，有装着草药的香包、印着梅花的古扇，还有古时女子佩戴的精美花簪、面具等商品出售。

花朝节有游春扑蝶、制作花糕等节日风俗。姑娘们剪好五色彩纸粘在花枝上，称之为“赏红”，祈求花神降福，同时祈祷自己像花一样朝气与美丽。

花朝节活动的举办，唤起了人们对于汉服、古着等传统服饰的记忆，也是中国传统文化以新形式的一种延续。
