在新西兰过春节，别用英语这么说！（附春节联欢会信息）

马上就要到春节了，新西兰有不少地方都在积极准备中国新年庆祝活动。今天就和立思辰留学360老师就来学一学，有关中国新年英文单词和对话。这样，在和洋人朋友介绍我们的传统文化时，大家也会更加自信了！

首先，“年”要怎么说？

中国新年 Chinese New Year

春节 Spring Festival

农历新年 Lunar New Year

这三个词，其实都是同一个意思。

不过，因为新西兰的季节与北半球正好相反，中国人的新春在新西兰刚好是初秋。所以在新西兰，人们一般不说Spring Festival，否则容易引起歧义。

另外，在新西兰，春节的英文用法，有的时候用“Lunar New Year——农历新年”，有的时候用“Chinese New Year——中国新年”。

因为除了中国之外，还有其他一些亚洲国家，比如韩国、朝鲜，以及越南、马来西亚等东南亚国家也过春节。所以这两种用法在新西兰都能看得到，也都是正确的。

再来学几个与中国新年有关的单词：

大年三十：New Year’s Eve

正月初一：New Year’s Day

春联：Spring Festival Couplet

红包：Red Envelope或者Lai see

Lai See是最早广东话发音演变过来的，在东南亚一些国家以及英美的老移民区也有沿用粤语发音的习惯。

压岁钱：Lucky Money

贴福字：Paste the “Fu” Character

团圆饭：Family Reunion Dinner

拜年：Pay New Year visit to families and friends

放鞭炮：Set off firecrackers

猪年：Year of Pig

舞龙舞狮：Dragon and Lion Dance

春节联欢晚会：CCTV New Year‘s Gala

包饺子：Making Dumplings

元宵节：Lantern Festival

The Chinese New Year is coming. I am looking forward to it.

-是的。今年是猪年。

Yes it is. This year is the year of pig.

-中国人怎么庆祝新年？

How do Chinese people celebrate Chinese New Year？

-中国每个地方的新年习俗都不太一样，但有一些事情是一定要做的。

Different places have difference traditions when celebrating Chinese New Year. But there are things that must be done.

-都有哪些？

Like what？

-比如过年前要大扫除。除夕那天一家人要吃团圆饭，放烟花，还有大年初一会互相拜年。

Things like cleaning the house， having a family reunion dinner at New Year’s Eve， setting off firecrackers， and paying New Year’s visit to families and friends.

-我听说有贴春联的习俗？

I heard that pasting the Spring Festival Couplet is also part of the tradition？

-是的，而且很多人还有贴福字的习惯， 为了来年有个好兆头。

Yes. And many people paste the Fu Character on doors too. It is believed that they will bring a lucky start of the New Year.

-我很喜欢看舞龙舞狮。

I like the dragon and lion dance very much.

-我也是。南方人过年喜欢舞龙舞狮，是用来祈求平安和丰收的。

Me too. Dragon and lion dance is especially popular with folks in the southern China. Usually it’s performed to bring good luck and harvest to the community.

-听说除夕的时候要包饺子吃？

Do you make dumplings at New Year’s Eve？

-这个更多是北方的习惯，在南方，人们会吃汤圆或者年糕。

That‘s more like a northern thing to do. In South China， people have glutinous rice balls or rice cakes.

-中国人过年真是讲究。

Wow， what a rich variety of traditions！

-是啊，现在过年有了更多时髦的习俗，比如手机发红包。

Indeed. Nowadays we got a whole lot more new ones as well， such as sending red envelope via mobile phone Apps.

-真的，我还收到过微信红包呢。

Exactly！ I have received WeChat Red Envelopes too.
