孔子曰:“生而知之者,上也;学而知之者,次也;困而学之,又其次也;困而不学,民斯为下矣。”Confucius said, “Those who are born with the possession of knowledge are the highest class of men. Those who learn, and so, readily, get possession of knowledge, are the next. Those who are dull and stupid, and yet compass the learning, are another class next to these. As to those who are dull and stupid and yet do not learn;
《论语》“子曰”析 我三岁开始读书识字,读的第一本书是《三字经》,第二本书是《论语》。只是识字断句背诵,不讲也不懂。这是在本世纪初期。现在到了世纪末,再读《论语》,原来自以为可以懂得一多半,哪知现在自己认为能懂的还不到一半。
“道外无事,事外无道。”先生常言之。道在宇宙间,何尝有病,但人自有病。千古圣贤,只去人病,如何增损得道?道理只是眼前道理,虽见到圣人田地,亦只是眼前道理。唐虞之际,道在皋陶;商周之际,道在箕子。天之生人,必有能尸明道之责者,皋陶、箕子是也。箕子所以佯狂不死者,正为欲传其道。
